About Us

National Academy was opened in 1988 by an established pediatrician and his wife. National Academy is a Two-Star rated center which is currently seeking accreditation from NECPA. Our preschool teachers have four year degrees, and other teachers will soon be required to have a minimum of a CDA credential. Our instructors at National Academy are all CPR certified and are required to take 18 hours of training each year. We are partnered with the Head Start Porgram and are also members of the Child and Adult Care Food Program. We use daily routines to keep the classrooms running smoothly and follow the Creative Curriculum. We provide a vast array of age appropriate learning materials in each of our spacious classrooms. Our teachers and administrative staff are dedicated to helping make your child’s time at National Academy worthwhile and fulfilling.

National Academy is open from 5:30 a.m. until 6:30 p.m. Monday through Friday excluding national holidays. The principal education program is organized from 8:30 to 12:00 daily. Afternoon snacks are provided along with a well balanced breakfast and lunch. Classrooms are provided for children ranging from six weeks to twelve years.

National Academy recognizes that a child’s first and most important teacher is his or her parents. We value parents’ expertise in educating our staff about their children. By working together, we will enable each child to experience success in his or her emotional, social, physical, and cognitive development. Our commitment extends beyond the center to provide a sense of support and works as an extension of the family.
National Academy will establish a climate in which children feel safe and secure. We will demonstrate attentiveness to each child in a caring manner and encourage them to learn through play in a positive, loving atmosphere. The developmentally appropriate curriculum will maintain the flexibility necessary to acknowledge the different rates in whicheach child develops. We recognize the importance and vitality of all children, parents and teachers in this child-centered community of learners.

The qualified and experienced teachers at National Academy do not leave learning to chance. Instead, we plan learning opportunities, plant ideas, encourage questions, and foster curiosity.

Opportunities for children to hone their auditory, perceptual, and sensory skills are worked into the curriculum to give your child a sound groundwork for future learning.
